Our Mission
The mission of Visit Macon County is to steward and promote the area’s rich historic, natural, and cultural resources, create economic opportunities through community-based tourism, and enhance the well-being of residents. VMC will promote Macon County attributes and events and collaborate on opportunities that benefit the health and happiness of our community.
Stewardship
When approached thoughtfully, tourism can help sustain and enhance the very qualities that make communities special. Through our efforts, we seek to, first and foremost, further contribute to our home being a wonderful place to live for present and future generations, while also benefiting from it being a wonderful place to visit. We seek to lift up our unique sense of place and promote attributes, events, and programs that result in community benefit, historic preservation, cultural celebration, and care for the natural environment. When exploring our communities, we encourage our guests to follow the
Leave No Trace Principles and the
United States Travel Care Code.
